Dear Rita Mae Brown,

The adventures of Juts and Wheezie in Loose Lips offer respite from work and life. Between their squabbles, ambitions and relationships, a thread of humanity connects the characters.

News wreaks of missing links, Paris, the latest tragedy, human loss. Closer to home, illness and challenges of family and friends draw concern.

Individual self-respect, taking care of each other, and using words to settle differences builds bridges of understanding.

The sun dutifully, even joyously, rises each day. The moon and stars offer light in the darkness of night. The universe supports us. Hugs heal.

That thread of humanity can be fragile or mighty, lost then found, timeless and timely. It is in us and connects us, friends, family, and foes too. When strained by the few, the many respond, in prayers, helping hands and with the assertion that we are better together.

All my best,

Loraine
